Why'd I even bother?

So about a week ago I decided to roam ye olde Vana'diel once again. This past update did indeed usher in a "brave new world". Apparently it is also one that can fell Absolute Virtue (for the time being). During my absence, Beyond and Volume combined to form Resonance. I left Beyond during the end of June as a result of burnout coupled with some outside factors and didn't know what I wanted out of the game anymore. Once again being an "outsider", I applied to the newly-formed linkshell. A couple days later, I spoke with one of the sacks (who was also a leader in Beyond) and we discussed a number of things, such as the current situation.

Another question that was asked was "would you be willing to take up something like BRD/COR/DNC and use one of those where BLU and DRG wouldn't fit?" Of course I opted to go the route of DNC given that it was already 40+ and had the necessary subjobs ready. Moreover a handful of pieces I used on BLU also carry over (enkidu hands, aurore legs among some others). Since it seems the Volume people wear the pants in that relationship, I didn't get in. Supposedly they have "more than 55 active members" which sounds like a crock of shit given that both shells had to merge due to lack of numbers from both sides. And it seems a lot of people were left out in the cold as well. Boy did I blow it. Looks like I'm going to have to switch servers if I ever want to do "endgame" again, though the definition of that term is changing with the next few updates. No clue what I'm going to do now.

So yeah, why'd I even bother?
