Yilbegan revisited

Last night, Beyond took two more shots at the void-walking Yilbegan. Our first encounters taught us two important things. The first big thing we learned was that PLD/NIN tanks were useless in this fight. Another thing was there wasn't enough incoming damage to keep up with his high regen. A faster Yilbegan kill is what we sought. But how do we get there? It was "back to the drawing board" so to speak.

So we formulated a strategy based on our own experience coupled with what had been gleaned from posts on BG. In lieu of blink tanks, we went back to the old-school blood tanking. However instead of /WAR, both our paladins subbed BLU instead (which panned out quite well). To circumvent the regen, we stuck a pair of DRGs in front of the fiend -- one of which happened to be yours truly. The two of us took turns angoning and firing off ancient circle while cracking off wheeling thrusts just as a TP move was about to go off. We managed to take out the first one in just over 30 minutes.

The second one was going fine until it used meteor and everyone scattered after both tanks died, causing a depop. So yet another valuable lesson learned. Now let's hope we get some better loot next time!

Yilbegan tends to be stingy. In the three pops I've witnessed, he only drops synthesis crap and the Pythia Sash mat. :(

On the upside, he seems to take crazy damage from Cannonball. My Taru BLU friend managed 1100 *without* Chain Affinity, which is epic on a "HNM."
